Emissions Control Development
Our Mission
Design and implement a comprehensive system to measure the gases emitted by both light and heavy vehicles. By adhering to the standards set by Mexico's Secretariat of Ecology, scanning OBDII port values, and ensuring compliance with National Ecological Regulations, we aimed to contribute significantly to environmental protection.
Development
The initiative was driven by the ambition to create hardware and software in alignment with the specifications laid out by the Mexico City Environment Secretariat. This formed the basis for our adaptable solutions tailored to the varied requirements of each Federal entity. A pivotal aspect of our approach was the development of a modular hardware system that incorporated the following technologies
Modular Hardware Integration:
1. Sample Module: Utilizing Sensors Inc. AMB II technology, this module is capable of measuring hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide. Additionally, we developed external systems for measuring oxygen and NOx gases, all controlled by our custom PCB, facilitating the analysis of five distinct gases. Designed for vehicles using gasoline, natural gas, LP gas, or alternative fuels, this module is equipped with the necessary national accreditations.
2. Opacimeter: Specifically for diesel vehicles, this device measures the opacity of emitted smoke. Our offerings include Motorscan and our own proprietary KeyScan from the RedEYE line.
3. Power Module: This component uses a chassis dynamometer (e.g., Mustang, Aztec) to apply load for dynamic gas measurement tests.
4. Tachometer Module: Designed for static testing, it measures vehicle RPM through OBD2 connections, laser, and inductive tachometers.
5. Safety Control Module: Utilizes ultrasound technology to ensure the Master module's safety by monitoring the opening of doors.
6. Weather Station: Measures temperature, relative humidity, and atmospheric pressure to control emission testing conditions.
Software Development: A comprehensive software solution for capturing user, vehicle, and verification center data. It includes visual inspection inputs, automatic OBD2 data collection, and emission testing (static, dynamic, or diesel) with phase activation based on the test type.
Network and Verification Line Installation: Key to the system's deployment, along with post-sale equipment and software maintenance services, customer advisement, and updates on federal regulations.
Regulatory Engagement: Participation in ecological NOMs (Official Mexican Standards) review workgroups.
Results
The implementation of our system led to remarkable outcomes:
1. Accumulation of over 100 million data points over the years.
2. Secured an 80% market share within Mexico's vehicle verification sector.
3. Contributed to a 23% reduction in emissions nationwide.
